Energy management is mandatory
Increasing energy prices, higher intensity of competition and governmental requirements regarding the energy audit obligation from the new energy services act EDL-G or the tax refund under § 10 StromStG (‘Tax capping’, SpaEfV) make energy management mandatory for many companies. An energy management system according to ISO 50001 allows your company to continuously improve internal processes and systems. This makes an important contribution to increased energy efficiency.

New government incentives for energy audits
Within the framework of the new energy service act EDL-G, this year all companies who do not come under the definition of an SME will be obligated to carry out an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 by 5th December 2015 and then regularly every four years thereafter. This mandatory audit applies to companies in all industries.
Regardless of this obligation, a standardised energy audit offers a number of advantages. For companies in the manufacturing sector, an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 is a prerequisite for tax refunds from the tax cap or the special equalisation scheme. SMEs benefit from funding within the framework of the ‘Energy consulting in the mid-sized sector’ programme.
The following applies to all companies: the measures identified in the energy audit for improving the efficiency potential save costs, energy and CO2 after a short amortisation period.
We support you throughout the entire process, from the implementation of the energy audit, through to the identification of suitable measures for the improvement of energy efficiency to drawing up the report and certification.
Energy audit as a precursor to an energy management system
Should you decide, after conducting an energy audit under DIN EN 16247-1, that you wish to continually optimise your energy consumption, you will have already taken a big step in the right direction towards getting an energy management system. The recording and assessment of your energy situation is an essential part of DIN EN ISO 50001, which also requires the implementation of the recommended measures and their inspection, as well as continuous improvement measures.
